Dad saves the day!

Out of Lake Tahoe we hiked a short day, and then got another full 26 mile day in. The next day the weather hit. Again. We heard a storm was coming in and the prediction turned out to be correct. We saw the clouds converging the night before and I pitched my tarp to be storm ready.
The third day out of Tahoe was very wet but it wasn't too cold until we started walking an exposed ridge line around 8000 feet that was getting annihilated by the brunt of the storm. The ridge line was like 5 miles long. Would have been a beautiful hike, but the rain and wind had us all thinking about hypothermia prevention before too long.
We had planned to go 26 miles that day, but the weather threw that plan out the window. The plan was to get picked up by my Dad at highway 80 where the PCT crosses under it. Luckily we had a trail called 5 lakes that exited out at Alpine Meadows and that got us to a road that in turn got us a hitch to a cafe.

The waitress at the cafe bought us beer and I are a breakfast pizza. It was amazing. Then my dad showed up and brought us to our cousin Jim's cabin. It was very lucky. We almost spent another very cold night but we got to avoid it because of my dad. Thanks a ton, Dad!
