I've missed a few days of blogging so here's a recap.
I hiked two 25 mile days and one 7 mile day in order to time getting picked up by Drama properly at hwy 20 on Thursday morning. Hike-a-while was with me so he scored a ride as well.
The two 25 mile days, though lower distance than my usual in Oregon, were hard on me mentally. I think the need to be at highway 20 by Thursday morning pulled me out of the present moment more.
On the 31st of July a large storm came into the South and covered the sun. This was great because the trail was really exposed and the clouds kept things cool. I didn't get any rain.
That night I hiked a mile off trail to come into Big Lake Youth Camp which is very hiker friendly. I had dinner there, and also a pre-dinner eaten out of the amazing hiker box there. Chips-Ahoy and honey burrito anyone?
Also had some new shoes waiting for me there. Perfect timing. The old ones had 500 miles on them at this point and the EVA foam inside was beginning to really flatten out.
The next morning I met Drama and I was really happy to see him. He brought ridiculous donuts.
We drove into Bend and I bought my resupply and then we started to tour the breweries of Bend.
That night we drove back up to the trail and I slept in the passenger seat of his car. It wasn't super comfortable, but it was raining and I didn't feel like dealing with my tarp.
This morning I hiked 27 miles to get back on track. It was a good day besides being a little sleep deprived. Tomorrow starts with a 3000 foot climb that is pretty irregular for Oregon.
I'm going to get some rest.
